I'm taking entries starting now, spanning to November First, and I'm doing it because in my characters' worlds...
Well, if you've ever seen Donnie Darko, or read the Chronicles of Chrestomanci or His Dark Materials, or heard it somewheres else--science show, I dunno...
there's theories about worlds splitting and spanning from the outcome of one event. One world/universe goes in one direction, carrying on where...I dunno...I missed the bus to school. Let's say I didn't miss the bus. The new universe would be the one where I did not miss the bus. It's like one big what-if.
In my characters' world, something happened a long time ago in evolution that created worlds that are drastically similar and yet radically different in both recorded history and biological/geographical history, due to an anomaly: a thinning of one world, which is merging into the "wider" one. It has a different history, different science, but similar languages, cultures, etc. because the worlds have overlapped for some time. People in the "wider" world are not just human, but anthropomorphic, draconic, elvish, angelic/pseudo-angelic, etc. whereas people in "our" world are just...people. There is no magic, or fantasy/sci fi creatures. However, many people, via sudden realization of a scenario happening to them that is illogical in "our" world can be incorporated, in an instant, into the "wider" world. People coexist for years, then discover their next door neighbor has a dog's face and their boss is capable of immortality, after listening to an odd conversation on the subway. The people in "our" world only see humans when they look at anthros. They tend to give off strong animal vibes in facial expression, and put the human in mind of an animal, i.e. "that man looks just like a cat watching a mouse." So, to characters that are not yet in the "wider" world, which scientists believe will happen to everyone in the current generation, requiring a great deal of re-teaching for schools and resolving of claims and conflicts among politicians, they'd look at my anthropomorphic characters and see humans.
Whenever I figure out a storyline--this could be years, this could take until my professional career, I don't know how long it could take--I will need to have alternative, human forms ready for my characters that I use most frequently in stories and roleplaying.
So, I am lazy, and I wanted to see how others see my characters if they'd be drawing them without going by species, so I wanted to have some help designing them.
Your task is to choose one or more of the characters listed below and draw them as a human, including all body art and hairstyles. They don't have to be in clothes if you wanted to get funky with birthmarks or something.
You'll be taking the following into account:
Ethnicity (This doesn't always line up with their animal forms, apologies in advance)
Facial features (Do they have a more chiseled nose, or a more delicate nose? how long is their face?) including: nose, jaw, eyes, face shape and length
Existing body type (Are they more chubby, muscular, bony, short, tall, curvy?)
The following characters you can draw as humans for the contest are:
Dominic Martino Angelo-Italian. I know he's a german breed but he's like, PURE Italian. [link]
Elijah Jamesson Carter-Native American (Northwest coast)-Scottish. [link]
Bailey Roderick Mellizano-Brazilian-Japanese-Italian. [link] he's not anorexic anymore either. He's...there's a fear of certain foods and eating them where you're creepily healthy, and hes' that, whatever it is.
Amy Mellizano-Brazilian-Indian-Japanese. [link] [link] a kind of stocky, curvaceous, strong-built girl. oh and here's more. her hair can be blond, or can have black and/or purple in it in any way you'd like. sometimes she sweeps the bangs. [link]
Lindsay Powers-Chinese, possibly some Brazilian or African in there as well. Hair would probably be still white, or white-blond. I dunno. [link] she's got a weird build. note that she also has veeery small breasts and a masculine chest and feminine hips.
Adam - will have small doodle up soon, he's a white prick-eared mutt with a medium-length, floofy, and slightly curly tail--he curls it when excited or tense-his hair is longish, needs a trim, kinda messy, he's shortish, not really thin or fat, and a little muscled, with a tiny bit of beer pudge. He has odd-eye and is mostly English--just, caucasian male American from NYC. He's a horrible slob who never showers and he's quite good looking and optimistic.
Noah - will have small doodle up soon, he's a giraffe, African, no body art, except maybe a stud in one ear. He's just got his mane-thing giraffes have for hair, and he's got a rather feminine face, is rather tall, has a long neck (durhurhur), and is rather thin, a little muscled. He is the most anal, clean freak man ever.
I'd do Jimmy but I'm too lazy to post something. She has purple hair, she's a catsunething too, she's dating Elijah and is the mother of Bailey's oldest kid, and she's Peruvian, Japanese, Mongolian, and maybe Russian too. She's got more floofy fur, and overall prefers cooler weather than either Bailey OR Amy. I think she's only got a pierced navel.
AW WHAT THE HECK, JIMMY FOURTAILS TOO.
Note: If a character has unnatural hair for their ethnicity, it shows up that color in human forms, too, but, because the whole worlds merging thing is based on people seeing what they want to see, they'll see roots a color that makes sense (Domni, Amy, and Jimmy are a good example for that
Not doing Burton, Maire, or Spook because Spook's drawn for the sake of being drawn. She's pretty, so I draw her. She's got no storyline. Maire and Burton aren't as active as they were (nor are Brandy and Triina) but I plan to revive them. Overall they're more for looks though. I draw them 'cause they're cute.
The other guys actively fit into a storyline. Burton and Maire do too, but they aren't as....vital as even Elijah, Noah, Adam, and Jimmy are.
If you wanna draw some couples, go ahead. Bailey goes with Amy, Dominic goes with a human-ish guy I haven't drawn yet...but he's friends with Adam and Noah, who are a couple (a really rocky one though-there's issues with Noah somehow managing to be a gay homophobe), Elijah's with Jimmy, and um...Lindsay's with Max, who I haven't drawn yet.
Um....yeah.
Refs in the refs section of my gallery. HAVE FUN WITH THIS SHIZ.
Prizes!
FIRST PLACE-this means I really liked your interpretation THE BESTEST OF ALL, AWWW-: Two badges: regular badge, Rainbow Brite badge, or Mika Lollipop badge (choose two of three), fully colored image with background (can't promise on complexity ) and it may be in marker, pencil, or a combo, and one sketch, for first place.
SECOND PLACE: Two badges (choose as before), one pin-up image (those little scrapbook sheet things I do).
THIRD PLACE: Two badges (choose as before), one inked image.
I may use the designs you guys make even if you don't place--if I use it, I'll figure something out...maybe a sketch or a badge?...almost like an Honorable Mention thing.
I dunno.
The designs may also be tweaked by me a little...just 'cause...or may give me ideas for how they'd look. I'll be giving credit where credit's due.
hey guys, this ain't for just anthro artists too! If you know any human artists, tell them about this, because ultimately my reason for doing this is because I want to be actively drawing humans AND fantasy animals, which means I wanna trade with human artists as well as fantasy and furry artists, and I want more options of my better-known and more frequently drawn characters out there as well as my human-form-only characters for when people draw for me. I wanna branch out, pretty much.
This won't replace my old characters' forms by any means. It's just how people in the "fading fast" universe-"our" universe-are merging with the one my characters live in will be seeing my characters.
THIS IS OPEN ON FURAFFINITY TOO SO FEEL FREE TO TELL YOUR PALS THERE ABOUT THIS.
