The GREEN ART PROJECT.
Started by darkydespised for the anthro art community...it is a series of traditionally-done PORTFOLIOS and digitally or traditionally done merchandise, with most proceeds going to the artists, and the various portfolios each have a percentage of the money going to an organization fitting it.
Basically, it's because I'm terrified of what the environment is swiftly becoming and how few artists I see as agitated as I am in the anthro community.
SO, FURRY ARTISTS, COME 'ROUND AND HAVE A GO. IT'LL BE FUN, YOU'LL MAKE SOME BUCKS, AND YOU'LL HELP MAKE SOME GREEN TOO!
Here's the basic information for due dates and what art goes where:
The due date!
*drumroll*
IT IS MAY 10TH.
PLEASE HAVE EVERYTHING DONE THEN.
PLEAAAASE HAVE EVERYTHING DONE THEN.
It's -plenty- of time. Beyond plenty of time.
By Februrary, I'd like to see at LEAST a WIP from all participants.
This means also that hopefully it'll be lots of time to get PRINTS TOGETHER FOR AC.
Also, slight change-IF YOU WANT TO DO SOMETHING DIGITAL, ANY STICKERS OR TEES OR MERCH IN GENERAL, DIGITAL ART IS IDEAL.
Otherwise, traditional plz so we could maybe sell the originals.
As usual, SPREAD THE WORD. We NEED more artists in this.
What is the green art project?
I'm always shocked and surprised that so many artists claim to be against pollution and for green living, but if that is so, why do we see more personal vent art, pin-up poses, and random doodles of characters dancing to the latest popular cute electro-pop dance hit or anime character than we do of art about cleaning up THE WHOLE PLANET?
Isn't the whole planet more important to draw about than Caramelldansen icons, despite how cute, or silly doodlies about how silly the workplace is?
If the anthro community loves animals so much, why aren't they showing it on a huge scale?
THIS COULD BRING MORE POSITIVE LIGHT ON THE COMMUNITY (okay maybe that's going too far, but still).
I know I have little room to talk but I do make sketches about political laws that have been passed, I just never get around to finishing them. I've been wanting to make a journal or an actual finished work of art addressing this topic for a -very- long time (years). but I talk about it with others all the time and it leaves me not wanting to even draw it because it's a rather distressing topic.
But I came up with an idea.
How about we start drawing more like this with a fun project?
What fun project, Darkmoon?
Read on, and you shall see...
I will accept art from other genres TO A POINT but only a certain amount per portfolio, we're trying to keep this mainly anthropomorphic. I will accept fantasy work TO A POINT in the Greenfolio itself. The folios together ARE NOT THE GREEN FOLIO. only one is! It's a bit of all the other folios in one, but different artists. It's not a pick of a few pieces from everything, but a general theme. If you wanted to do something about animals and put it in the greenfolio that would be perfectly acceptable.
However, it CANNOT go into the animals are citizens portfolio. You may, however, make a second image.
But for the other projects besides the greenfolio, any genre's accepted. I just was targeting the anthro/furry community in particular, so I wanted the GreenFolio itself to be mainly anthro/furry art. sorry for any misunderstandings!
There are so many different themes under each one, I'm really hoping for no repeats. I guess we'll just try to squeeze out all the ideas we can first, guys, then if someone really wants to do something we'll fit 'em in or you guys can work it out and collaborate?
I cannot stress this enough, PLEASE look at the art done already before working on your piece so you can ensure your piece will not be too similar to what is there already.
Here's the deal: A percentage will go to the participating artists, but the majority will be donated to a cause that is fitting for the portfolio's purpose.
I'm going to have to say this though:
Let's keep the general GreenFolio itself anthro only. I'm sorry folks, but it was started for the community. :/
The other folio's can have artists from any genre, to a point but it can't dominate, this is a furry/anthro art project first and foremost.
And one last thing:
I hate to do this. I really hate to do this.
But for the portfolios, we are looking for people of a certain skill level.
I'll say this: I think everyone who's asked me about joining so far is good. Also, please make sure your images, if traditional, are scanned at 300+ dpi and look -good.- If I need anyone to rescan, I'll be asking about this later.
Hold on to your images, too, the original portfolio sold would be neato and I still have to put that out there to ask.
WHEN SUBMITTING SOMETHING TO A PORTFOLIO, PLEASE SAY IF YOU ARE OKAY WITH YOUR WORK BEING USED FOR MERCH, THE CALENDAR, STUFF LIKE THAT.
YOU CAN ONLY SUBMIT IMAGES THAT ARE G-PG13. Any questions regarding what this means? Note me!
YOU CAN SIGN UP FOR SEVERAL PROJECTS BUT FOR THE PORTFOLIOS, YOU WILL HAVE TO MAKE SEPARATE ARTWORK FOR EACH, SINCE EACH HAS A THEME.
YOU MAY NOT USE A CHARACTER THAT IS COPYRIGHTED.
The Portfolios
Please try to keep these traditional media. I will accept digital media.
1. Get ready to pair up! Basically, the idea was to do an art project in which two artists pair up to make at least 2 images (or one split image), one by one artist of one problem or bad pollutant, and then show a way to solve the problem in another image by a different artist. Make sure the images feel connected enough.
This one is kind of a mixed-theme portfolio. It can have a problem from any of the other projects, but it has to have a solution too.
2. A year of green! *Idea from * Her idea was to take some images from the Green Folio itself and put them into a calendar. I like that idea, but maybe another calendar can be made of JUST positive images about going green, or solutions to problems contributing to Global Warming. So I guess 2 calendars? D:
Well, you can sign up for the calendar, and for the other folio's I guess that depends on whether or not you'd like your image to be used.
3. Exposed. This portfolio focuses on the faults of the government and consumer systems that are half the reason why everything is as bad as it is now. A lot happens behind the scenes, and most all of it is downright sick. Not just global warming happens here, but forced labor (although I must say a lot of those people are exposed to a huge amount of pollutants), loss of habitat, deforestation, inhumane tests, percieved/planned obsolescence, and more.
Please make sure these are relevant enough!
4. Energy Pack! This one is about all the wonderful ways to make energy-and all the not-so-wonderful ones. So you can put in stuff about how horrible gas and nuclear energy are, and how lovely wind, hydro, solar, and other forms of energy are. <3!
5. The GreenFolio itself. Nearly anything goes in theme. You can do anything, as long as it's relevant enough in theme. It's gotta be just anthro though. This one can even have collaborations in it, if you guys want.
6. Animals are Citizens. This is for art about testing related to pollution and bad chemicals and stuff like that. It is also for art focusing on deforestation, habitat loss, and the effects of pollution on animals.
Again, make sure it's relevant.
Other Projects
These can have art made just for them (that would actually be really neat
Digital art is preferred to traditional in this section.
1. Merchandise. Sweaters and the like with art, facts, and/or phrases on them. Can advertise the project, or just green stuff.
2. Stickers, stickers, stickers! Stickers with phrases and/or art on 'em advertising the project itself, or just green stuff.
The ideas are from the participants on dA, mostly.
Very happy to have them all.
PLEASE, IF YOU WANT TO SIGN UP TELL ME WHICH YOU'D LIKE TO DO AND PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE HAVE A PREVIEW BY FEBRUARY AT THE LATEST.
Participants list:
:hisakata-kitsune:
Be sure to note me or comment to be added!
Once we have enough art together we can decide as a group what to do with it.
About the above comment, that's exactly how I'd like this to go, actually.
When you submit your piece(s) for the project, you will have to decide eventually about how you want your art used. All art made is going to be used somehow.
If you have friends that are not involved in any online art communities but want to participate, they certainly can participate still. Just have them email me (note me if you need this) with the art, or, even better, have them post to the account for the Green Art Project on LJ! [link]
Devious Comments
And I'd totally be willing to participate.
You know what you could do that would be SUPERCOOL?
You could make calendars or something with some of the best pictures people draw for this. IDK.
But loooove this, and I can advertise this in my journal too if you'd like. :]

thank you stranger
for your therapeutic
s.m.i.l.e
YOU ROCK.
I'll add you to the participants list then!
and that is a definately awesome idea. I'll wait until we have enough stuff going on and then hold a little vote thing among everyone...or choose with some others?
Will consider it for sure!

We'll draw a peaceful vibration in an arc across the sky!
We'll create an object that won't fail to compete with this planet!

Rose Darko: Do you even know who Graham Greene is?
Kitty Farmer: I think we've all seen Bonanza.

92% of teens would be dead if Abercrombie & Fitch said it wasn't cool to breathe. Put this in your sig if you are part of the 8% that would be laughing.

It's sad how little they tell us about it.
I've gotten some interest though and I think that also if people really support something telling, although it seems like nothing, is a huge deal. showing support is huge and I see so little of it.

You have a wonderful dream, Anna, and you're not alone in it.
It is shared by so many people.
I've felt this way....for more years than I can ever even try to remember.
It's just hard to...make it blossom in the eyes of others, especially in the media-run society we live in today.
Start like this.
Get alot of artists in on it and yeah, start a "Green-folio".
Count me in!
I can see if Mayra :devianthuskie666: can give me some tips on portfolio development and exposure.
She's the only person I know who has even contributed to a portfolio, so maybe she has an idea?
We could also send a letter to Congress proposing our idea.
I have sent letters to my Massachusetts Congressman before, and have gotten "hopefully" responses, though I bet he didn't write the paper, a pion under him most likely is.
Maybe if we get a big enough portfolio, we can show them how concerned we are about this ever growing problem.
Ask your teachers, too.
They have more connections than we do to the public, maybe when we finish the folio, your school could run an art-fair and display it?
I'll make sure to post this in my LJ and DA blog.
And I'll tell some of my non-DA artist friends about it.
If we make calenders, we could have writes up inside about our cause, and we can either sell/donate them to the WWF, to local environmental protection agencies in our areas.
We can even write letters to the newspaper about it!
For all we know, your teachers may like the idea so much, they might contact your local newsbroadcast team and we could be on local TV!
Let's do all we can!
